Despite a growing number of books on Tibetan art and religion, most publications are almost exclusively illustrated with art objects scattered worldwide in private and public art collections. An exception to this was the authors previous monumental work,Buddhist Sculptures in Tibet (2 Volumes). By using existing examples in Tibetan monasteries this book includes new research and photographed discoveries. It includes a DVD of digital photographs of the 108 statues illustrated in the book and of the 419 most important Buddhist sculptures in the collection of the sacred Jokhang temple in Lhasa. |
